thank you for your answer. In the meanwhile I tried to install Ubuntu once 
more. But before I really cleaned up my partitions (with gPartEd). So I had one 
10GB-Partition ready for Ubuntu. But then there comes a dialog where the 
Installer suggests to install Ubuntu on this partition. Very well. But the 
first two times (when the installer crashed) I thought I don't only want half 
of the partition-space left for ubuntu, so I told the program to take 100% of 
this partition (instead of 50% as suggested). Ok, this time I left it on 50% 
and: Everything worked fine.
I think that this dialog is somehow a little bit missleading (at least for me 
it was). What do you think?
