I'm not convinced this is related to that upstream issue you referenced,
but it might be. Karmic has 0.4.17 now, so it would be great if someone
could test this on Karmic. If not, then could you please obtain a
backtrace of the crash, following the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash.
