This bug is still present. May 09. OS : Ubuntu 8.04.1 Kernel : 2.6.24-24, Hardware : TYAN-Tempest-i5000VS error : From syslog
kernel: [74211.398555] EDAC i5000 MC0: FATAL ERRORS Found!!! 1st FATAL Err Reg= 0x4 kernel: [74211.398564] EDAC i5000 MC0: >Tmid Thermal event with intelligent throttling disabled This appears to be a known kernel issue. There is a workaround on the Oracle forum. See http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=890202&tstart=0 Solution: As the EDAC is only a memory Stat tool for the kernel and it does not have any impact on the OS or the server(none critical). We can blacklist (stop the error message for popping up) it until the next kernel release when this bug should be fixed. Bios are already monitoring the memory via Bios Any memory failure or thermal event will be reported The workaround for this problem is to prevent the i5000_edac module from loading. To do this, add the following line to the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file then reboot server boot. -- EDAC i5000 MC0: FATAL ERRORS Found!!! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
