** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati I am running Ubuntu 9.10, amd64 architecture on a Compaq 6910p laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 connected to two displays - the internal LCD and an extra LCD monitor (1920x1200), connected by VGA cable. The configuration typically works as expected, with no obvious problems. However, I see two intermittent problems: 1) Mouse cursor corruption, replacing the cursor with either a recognizably mangled cursor or sometimes apparently random noise (for example, a vertical bar of random dots). This can start at any point while I am using the computer. Once it has started, it does not recover, but the desktop is otherwise usable. 2) X freezes (typically preceded by the above mouse corruption). Roughly every few days, the desktop will freeze completely, forcing me to make a hard power off. I've submitted various data using ubuntu-bug, but am of course happy to answer further questions and post further details of my configuration! Cheers, Richard.
