Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gxine
Hello all,
Hope someone can help me out.
I aready read a lot of simular problems about the next situation
I have installed Ubuntu (version 8.10) on a windows partition.
I was amazed about how simple it was to install everything and all hardware
where installed corectly!!! Also video and sound was not a problem
then I installed the new Ubuntu version 9.04 after the upgrade. I have some
problems with playing video. sound is not an issue. I get sound with a black
screen.
I tried to play a AVI file with all available video programs like>
VLC/TOTEM/GXINE/ Codeine etc etc.
All of them have the same result. I also installed all codecs ( restricted and
unrestricted), I also de-installed video tools and codecs and reinstall all
programs. also that does not work.
the avi file I try to play is one I have created with my digital camera.
So i guess if there is a codec used when making that movie it must be
one that can be played with all programs.
work around
the solution I found out now after many hours installing etc.
when I play the movie with GXINE the file can not be played. but when I keep
GXINE active and try to play the file with another program like VLC or any
other software, there is no problem???????
Please help me out with this!!!
with regards,
Eddy
