Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I am forever missing out on conversations because I've been disconnected
from MSN messenger (logged in at another location), but Pidgin does not
give me any indication that this has happened, possibly because I also
log into GMail, and that always remains connected.

This means that if I'm using Pidgin at work, and somebody reboots my
home computer: messenger logs in at home, Pidgin is disconnected, but
unless I open the main Pidgin window at work, I have no idea this has
happened.

The Pidgin icon in the notification area really needs to change to a
clear 'disconnected' icon whenever any network has been disconnected.
Ideally it should flash for attention too, the same way it does when
somebody sends me a message.

What might also be really useful would be for Pidgin to be able to pop
up a notification message when I return to the computer if it's
currently disconnected. Although this may need to be optional as some
people might not like it.

Personally, a clear indication that Pidgin is offline, and a message on
screen telling me that when I come back to my desk will be a big help in
ensuring that I'm always connected.
