The acpi problem exists in 8.04 (32 bit Intel, EXT3 file system), clean
install.

When trying to recover from a locked-up system update installation by running
dpkg --configure -a
I received:
dpkg: error processing acpid (--configure)
unable to flush updated status of `acpid': Read-only file system
dpkg: ../../src/packages.c:252: process_queue: Assertion `!queuelen' failed.
Aborted

Most puzzling is the setup message: Setting up acpid (1.0.4-5ubuntu9.3)

It was the ACPI update that locked up the system updater.

Is this an appropriate update for ubuntu 8.04?
