I have the same issue, Evolution becomes unresponsive for a long period of time every time an email is received from the pop account. This also kills other processes while it is gone, I have a quad-core, so I think its any processes that are running on the same CPU. There is also an SMTP account that it checks, this one does not cause crashes. I have cleaned up the mailbox so there were a small number of messages, reinstalled, etc to no avail. Attached is my valgrind log.
