Thanks Derek. I might try cdrtools when I have some spare time. In case anyone with any authority is still watching this thread: I'm brave enough to compile from source if I need to, but this is still a workaround, not a fix. How can I credibly recommend Kubuntu to anyone else, when there are bugs like this that have been hanging around for a year and a half, through all four releases from Gutsy to Jaunty?
