Humblegod:- go to a terminal and type in 'cat /proc/modules|grep rt' this will tell you what modules are active begining with the letters "rt". If it is the rt2860sta module then just make sure the /staging directory is clear of the same module name, IE staging/rt2860/rt2860sta.ko. If its not there, my suggestion is to continue with the next steps and disconnect your wireless ability by network manager or CLI and remove the module before patching and inserting the new one.
