Guys, this problem is still not sorted! I have reverted to 8.04 now! I have upgraded the firmware of the DVD drive to the latest but the problem persists. Looks like kernel 2.6.26 and above are having the same issue because Debian 5.0.1 Lenny also will not see the drive!
