I have installed with ext4 and have had better results, or I guess
different results.  I got a Kernel panic in the middle of the night, and
after reboot it froze solid shortly after login.  Another reboot and it
has been running for about 5 hours with out any errors.  I was able to
install the updates.  I still don't trust it, but it does look like ext4
is working better for some reason.
