Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: util-linux
Yesterday evening I compiled a new kernel (without initrd) and rebooted:
Linux chewbaka 2.6.29.4 #5 SMP Wed May 20 19:01:37 CEST 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
with the latest karmic packages
This morning when I checked for it I saw several blkid processes using
up all available CPU time.

blkid hangs when it tries to read from the devices above, as can be
seen in the attached strace log
I can also reproduce this behavior on my laptop. If I boot with (a) hard
disk(s) attached via USB,
I see one hanging blkid process per hard disk which is attached via USB.
