Same problem on Asus M3N78-EM & SATA HDD Western Digital 320gb & Kubuntu 9.04. All works good, but after sleep (S3 suspend) system can't access to /dev/sda drive. If system can wake up without hdd access, all works good to the time that the system need read something from hdd. I try the AHCI and SATA modes on the bios, enable/disable AHCI 2.0, upgrade bios to latest version, but nothing helps. In forum http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=123583 I have found some solution: add "pci=nomsi" to the kernel parameters for solve this problem. I have try this tomorrow and post result here.
