I installed Jaunty i386 on the same machine just to see what happens,
and the symptoms are the same, but I noticed something I didn't while
using amd64 version:

After a clean boot, the fan never starts to spin, temperature can reach
73 C and the fan doesn't starts, BUT after restoring from suspend-to-ram
state, the fan begins to spin normally once the temperature reachs 52 C
and keeps the system reasonably cool (around 45C).
