Public bug reported:
I had just upgraded from Hardy to Jaunty, rebooted, applied all
available updates in default official repo, and just for the heck of it
told it to suspend. It did, with the hardware power light doing the same
slow blink as it does when you suspend in Windows. But when I pressed
the power button to bring it back, the fan spun up as expected, but
about one second into it (when the fan reached full speed), the power
cycled and it started booting from scratch.
A couple years ago I had the same behavior happen in Windows XP (on this
laptop) when resuming from a suspend (to RAM--to disk has always worked
just fine) and eventually discovered that the cause was apparently a
small corruption somewhere in my Windows user profile. Not sure if that
gives you any hints you couldn't already guess from the behavior, but...
:-p
ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly.
