The database still isn't exactly browseable, but you can see a little
information about what has been submitted. On the launchpad page for
checkbox https://launchpad.net/checkbox there are some answers,
including https://answers.launchpad.net/checkbox/+question/26749 which
points out

> For now, the user interface simply provides a list of the information 
> each user has submitted using the hwtest application in order to 
> make it accessible to the community. Here is the URL where [username] 
> should be replaced with your own username:
> 
>  https://launchpad.net/~[username]/+hwdb-submissions

SO you can look at the list of hwdb submissions and satisfy yourself
that at least they haven't been thrown away all these years.
