I am experiencing the same problem. In Ganymede, I open the SVN commit window, and the system crashed.
The deskop applets seem to be working, when I unplug the LAN cable, the pop-up appears and dissappears. My mouse pointer is able to move, but the system does not accept any keyboard input. If I press the restart switch, I get the shutdown panel, but am unable to click or type a key for one of the options. Alt F1-F5 don't work either and CTRL-backspace does not shut down X. To me, Gnome should not allow an application to take total control of the system. Even if the dialog box fails, the user should be able to access the rest of the Linux box as normal.
