Public bug reported:
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04. My dmesg shows that my ethernet card is:
sis190 Gigabit Ethernet driver 1.2
When I disconnect my network cable, nothing happens. Network Manager
still believe the cable is in, syslog shows no messages. If I reconnect
the cable, again, nothing happens (not even syslog messages). But the
network hangs.
The only way to recover is to run:
sudo /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart
Then, the nm-applet shows "Wired - eth0 disconnected" and after a while
"eth0 connected" (or something like that).
