Same problem here. In Hardy I would frequently have ~20 tabs open and it was fine but now much less than that is super slow. I currently have 5 open and it is painfully slow, basically unusable. I have ATI graphics and I am using the free driver (I think) Last I checked fglrx was not available on Jaunty. I am running Kubuntu too BTW. Scrolling takes a second or more to update, Flash is unsuably slow (youtube is useless right now), tabs take about 2 seconds or more to switch, and it eats up 85-110% of my 1.9 AMD Athlon X2 dual core as reported by the cmd line utility top. I have Mplayer plugin installed, Openoffice plugin, and flash. I had the Web developer toolbar and useragent switcher extensions installed but I disabled them.
