Sorry it took so long to get back to you - been working 12 hour shifts 6 days a week. I just loaded 2.6.24-24-generic on the laptop. Does not recognize or power up the Wifi card. sudo modprobe acx returns "FATAL: Module acx not found." dmesg output is attached. Plugged the laptop into a wired network and noted I have no connectivity. Rebooted into 2.6.24-24-generic with network connected - still unable to connect to network. I also cannot start the Synaptic Package manager. The system shows "Starting Administ..." on the task bar then it goes away. SPM does not load and does not generate any errors. Suggestions?
FYI - I have an 8.10 live DVD. It also does not recognize my WiFi card. Due to these issues I'm sort of stuck at 2.6.24.20. > Date: Tue, 24 Mar 2009 09:21:38 +0000 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: [Bug 263439] Re: [acx111] Linksys WPC54G V2 no longer recognized > > It didn't die, it just went in a coma ;-) Now it's awake again. > > ddfarren, can you please also attach the output of dmesg from > 2.6.24-21-generic ? what happens if you try "sudo modprobe acx" in that > kernel? is it possible that you don't have linux-restricted-modules > installed? > > -- > [acx111] Linksys WPC54G V2 no longer recognized > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263439 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > > Status in “linux” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete > > Bug description: > Ubuntu 8.04, laptop with Linksys WPC54G V2 ([104c:9066], acx111-based) PCMCIA > Wifi card, on a Texas Instruments PCI1510 PC card Cardbus Controller > [104c:ac56]. > > The card is recognized when running the 2.6.24-20-generic kernel, but not > with 2.6.24-21-generic. > > > Old description: > I recently performed an update from Ubuntu Release 8.04, kernel > 2.6.24-20-generic to 2.6.24-21-generic.
