same problem in Jaunty here. Disabling remote desktop in preferences fixes the issue (but no remote access) Running vino-server from a terminal window seems to be alright (no excessive CPU usage).
As soon as I enable remote desktop from the preferences menu, CPU spikes again. AMD cpu.
