I have the same issue, which started after I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10
to 9.04.

Every time I play a video in Totem, I get the "Disconnected: Connection
Terminated" message.

I did a complete removal of the alsa, pulseaudio, totem, and vlc
packages (and related packages). I added vlc since it also had issues
playing any videos at all. I then did a clean reinstall of them all,
this did not help the issue though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need me to provide any
further information, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance,
~TJC
