I had this bug for ages and I have just solved it in the most trivial
way that I can't believe it.

My system is configured to use ALSA, I'm using KDE as a Window Manager
and this problem has affected me with both Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 and
Thunderbird 2.0.0.21.

I have just opened the Sound System KDE Control Module and noticed that
the sound buffer was set to 232 ms, I changed it so that it was as large
as possible and now the full wav file plays correctly.

This problem seems to be that Thunderbird is relying on the sound daemon
programs to buffer the audio.

Not the best solution to increase the size of the sound buffer, but it
works.
