Thank you for your response. I am happy to be as supportive as I can but 
your instructions simply make no sense.

My experience is that the LiveCD hangs a second after Install Without 
Changes to your Computer is selected.

Using Kubuntu 9.10 CD  dated 25/05/2009 the Live CD boot-up stops and 
hangs when the following line appears
[4.186809] [<c073b07c> _ _ init.begin+0x7c/0x83

That is it, there is no scope for typing  anything. All that is possible 
is to power down, restart and remove the CD.

This experience is echoed with 9.04 Final for Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu - 
all as I described in my bug posting.

If I can't get the CD to boot how am to test anything?

FWIW these problems did not appear with 8.04 and sooner. This is a 
recent 'improvement'.
