Do you have 'Assistive Technologies' enabled in Gnome? You can check by
going to System->Preferences->Assistive Technologies. If you are able to
disable this for testing and see if the crash stops it would help to
determine if this crash is due to a known bug with the interaction of
Assistive Technologies and templates.
