Are you sure that torrents aren't added? By default when new torrent is
added list of torrents isn't scrolled up so you may miss it. When
transmission is restarted the list is scrolled to the top so you see the
torrent. I have tried with both transmission 1.51-0ubuntu3 and
transmission 1.70-0ubuntu1 (from karmic koala) and it works just fine.
