Public bug reported:
Yesterday I suddenly found that Thunderbird and Firefox started
segfaulting at the same time. Thunderbird would crash on launch, while
Firefox would crash whenever I opened the "manage bookmarks" tool and
clicked on a folder icon. I found that disabling Lightning solved the
problem in Thunderbird (but that merely disabling its dependent
extensions – a gcal and a remember the milk provider – did not). However
disabling all extensions in Firefox did not solve the problem.
I was unable to reproduce this while logged on as another user. However
I did find that rebooting (I can't merely log out at the moment due to a
completely unrelated issue) made the problem go away temporarily... and
then it came back, at apparently the same time for both applications.
This suggest of course that if I stayed logged on long enough as another
user, I might also have encountered the same problem.
I won't upload any files to protect my privacy, but I will happily send
copies to someone, so long as you make sure I know where to look to
strip out any passwords before I do, and so long as you agree that the
you may only use the data therein for the purpose of resolving bugs.
Firefox version: 3.0.10
Thunderbird version: 2.0.021+nobinonly-0ubuntu1.9.04.1
