Binary package hint: wine
Many programs for Windows take for granted the availability of the "web
core" fonts previously distributed by Microsoft. After upgrading my
hardware and switching to Ubuntu (8.10 then 9.04) I found myself unable
to use any application I tried to run with Wine (versions 1.0.x and
1.1.x). I spent many weeks in Wine's support mailing list, just to find
out the issue was solely the absence of this package. I asked upstream
Wine to use other fonts as workarounds, but in the mean time I believe
distributions should set the ttf-mscorefonts package as a dependency of
the wine package.
