Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Let's say I boot my machine, start X, and run Firefox. All well and
good.
Then I go to Firefox's address bar and type the letter "S".
Now I have to wait for thirty seconds while Firefox apparently loads
every URL I may have visited in the past year and half which might
contain the letter "S", during which time it not only locks up the
browser, but the entire X environment, so I can't even switch between
windows. When it's FINALLY done I may, thank you very much, use my
browser, and the rest of my desktop.
The "awesome bar" is a resource-hogging abomination on its own, but if
it must remain, *nothing* should *ever* keep me from switching to other
windows while any application loads. *Nothing*.
I do not think the English language has words to accurately describe how
infuriating this is. I realise that the "awesome bar" horsebull is
Mozilla's deal, but if a window becomes unresponsive because of some
application misbehaving, there is NO REASON the entire desktop should
become unusable waiting for it to finish.
