Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17
i had reported a support request (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ticket/3248) and was told that this was the place to post my request using edgy, i get video issues with the -generic kernel with dual-head support.. ordinarily i wouldn't necessarily think it was the kernel change; however, when i installed the fglrx driver it specifically said that i should make sure to have the correct kernel for my hardware.. and in dapper, on k7 kernel, it works perfectly.. what happens is, on the second monitor, the lower portion of the video gets cut off.. in any movie player, mplayer, totem, anything.. i believe that the kernel is the reason as nothing else i have tried other than going back to dapper k7 has worked to fix it.. i don't really see why the k7 kernel was discontinued in ubuntu anyway.. i had previously had this problem in dapper, until i changed to the k7 kernel from the default.. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17 i had reported a support request (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ticket/3248) and was told that this was the place to post my request - using edgy, i get video issues with the i386 kernel with dual-head + using edgy, i get video issues with the -generic kernel with dual-head support.. ordinarily i wouldn't necessarily think it was the kernel change; however, when i installed the fglrx driver it specifically said that i should make sure to have the correct kernel for my hardware.. and in dapper, on k7 kernel, it works perfectly.. what happens is, on the second monitor, the lower portion of the video gets cut off.. in any movie player, mplayer, totem, anything.. i believe that the kernel is the reason as nothing else i have tried other than going back to dapper k7 has worked to fix it.. i don't really see why the k7 kernel was discontinued in ubuntu anyway.. i had previously had this problem in dapper, until i changed to the k7 kernel from the default.. -- bring back k7 kernel https://launchpad.net/bugs/81072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
