Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xsane

XSane doesn't detect the scanner. Running it as root doesn't help. There
are at least two bugs that seem related: #37499 and #73207, but none of
the hints there helped. The scanner is detected by sane-find-scanner:

found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0808 [USB MFP]) at
libusb:002:003

although it also finds something else, no idea what:

found USB scanner (vendor=0x046d, product=0x08f0) at libusb:001:005

scanimage -L doesn't however find the scanner. Editing
/etc/sane.d/epson.conf and adding the printer explicitly there didn't
help either.

The printer works however. :)
