As those 2 packages (gmerlin and libgmerlin0) appeared in Karmic one week ago, 
and wasn't before in the archive, I would say we don't need Replaces.
In a normal case, Replaces would be mandatory to avoid problems during the 
update.

Anyway, we can wait a bit more to see if Debian adopt this changes, and
if not, we can upload this debdiff.
