Public bug reported:

I was running Firefox while installing Netbeans 6.5.1 and JavaFX 1.2 SDK. Once
installation completed and I was running Netbeans. After a few minutes, my
laptop powered-off (shutdown) by itself, for no apparent reason. Once
rebooted, everything seems to be working fine. I have not tried start Netbeans
since.
I'd done a fresh installation of Jaunty a few days earlier where the /
partition was formatted as Ext4, and the /home partition was formatted as Ext3.

Ubuntu release: Jaunty 9.04
