I used Virtual Server 2005 before as well and didn't have this problem
with Hardy 8.04. Unforutnately 7.10 is no longer supported, so if
possible can you try with a supported release, i.e. Jaunty? Thank you.
Note: VirtualBox and VMWare seem to work pretty well with all linux
distributions, it might be work looking at them too.
