Daniel, I am using Gnome running Windows XP in virtualbox OSE. I don't really use it for other os' except on rare occasion, so I can't say if it's an issue with Windows only.
It might be important to note though that I do have the virtualbox drivers for Windows installed which allows me greater flexibility in switching from my main desktop to the vbox.
