Just as the search filter has a "cancel" button, the browse filter
should also have one. It would also be easy to make them share a button
as well.

My interface design advice would be this: as the user browses (for
example to the artist Brad Sucks, then to the album Out Of It) the
search box would be changed to read "Brad Sucks", then "Brad Sucks ->
Out Of It". If the Browse interface is closed, that search remains until
the user clears it. The search need not be plain-text: since the
behaviour is slightly different, the text could be a few shades lighter
than the default or something to differentiate it. Upon re-opening the
"browse" menu, the same artist and album should be showed as when it was
closed.
