Dave, I think that gEdit is "Text Editor" or, for example, gcalctool is 
"Calculator" because they are default apps even if it's not properly according 
to

If other virus scanner maintainers would only label their package as "Virus 
Scanner" (as you do in clamtk) the users might have more virus scanners apps 
with the same label.
I think we can establish a convention:
- the default ubuntu app can only be labeled with a text identifying the 
purpose of the app
- the non default ubuntu app should follow 
http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/desktop-application-menu.html.en

Obviously this is my opinion.
