Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

Gparted always request the password to start. This does not seem to be
necessary if
ones is to modify the partitions of, for instance, an external USB drive.
Requiring administrator
privileges for modifying the partition table of every device is dangerous
because, even
if what is trying to do is to an external device, we reach the state of being
able to
format the sytem partitions. Therefore, the ideal behaviour would be to only
ask
administrator privileges if the modifications are made to an internal drive.

** Affects: gparted (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
