I see this problem on fresh installs of two different machines, both on 8.04 Hardy and 9.04 Jaunty. Upon remote login through XDMCP and NX the administrator cannot unlock System->Administration->Users and Groups.
PS: This bug is very serious for us since it stops the possibility to use Ubuntu for Thin Clients & Remote Desktops in our business enterprise envinronments. If I recall correctly this worked on 6.06 Dapper. I hope there will be a solution for this problem. Purging policykit and reinstalling the ubuntu-desktop doesn't sound as a convincing solution since I have experienced this on fresh installations. (Almost Off Topic: the bug probably has been around for quite some time. Is it possible that very few people are using Ubuntu with remote desktops such as XDMCP and NX?) -- cannot Unlock Users Settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310742 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
