I just stumbled on this bug.
Mplayer and totem both are bearably slow.
Avi files and mkv files are slow, didn't test anything else.
I tried mplayer and totem.
The hardware:
Xinerama setup on two nvidia cards, driver: 180.44-0ubuntu1
Restarting also as describeb by Bob Henz works, the terminal dumps the
following warnings:
