Ubuntu karmic has < grub-efi_1.96+20090523-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb >, which is up to SVN grub2 rev 2233 - with the recent Apple Intel revs from Bean and phcoder, which I have been using, so should be ok, but I will try it and report in relation to this bug, which I had forgotten. The main outstanding issue is the inability to run 3d acecelerated nvida and ati graphics on Apple Intel, but that is another story.
