Public bug reported:
Hi there,
I'm trying to get a fully working battery monitor, and I'm both trying
the G-P-M applet, which sort of works, and the Gnome applet.
With the gnome applet, a strange thing is happening. If I boot my laptop
without a battery connected, it will correctly show on AC and no battery
present. The, I put the battery in place, and it detects the battery,
next, I unplug the AC and it correctly show running of battery. Just
absolutely fine.
But, booting the laptop with the battery in place doesn't work the same
way. It doesn't matter if I boot on battery power or with the battery
attached and on AC, it will always display running of AC and, no matter
what, it doesn't change. The extended view always shows the plug and the
battery state and, viewing the % remaing it goes down. Choosing to
display discharging time just gives -:-- G-P-M is giving a discharging
time, even it says the battery is fully charged (but it detects it is
running on battery..).
By the way, acpi always detects wether the AC is plugged or not; it just
will show discharging when the battery is fully charged and on AC (zero
rate, will never fully discharge) and it will show charged when it is
running from battery (even though it acts as on battery).
