For the record, I have a similar problem, also with a DG965WH mobo like OP's. In my case E4500 CPUs. Upgraded BIOS to latest Intel (1754). Upgraded from Hardy to Jaunty - core temps as reported by sensors-applet jumped up by about 15C: had previously been around 40C at idle, now 55C. Reverting to Hardy kernel (with Jaunty) dropped the reported temps again. I'm not aware of an unresponsive keyboard issue.
