Hi Scott,

At UDS we discuss about the SRU policy for kernel team, and now hardware
enablement patches are only acceptable in the form of quirks or ID
additions. The patch for HP Webcam is against the policy. Please refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/Specs/SRUPolicyReveiw

Fortunately, We already have this commit at next version of Ubuntu
kernel. The HP webcam will be supported at Karmic 9.10

I am sorry to tell you this. Before the Karmic released, could you use
mainline build kernel instead? You could find them at
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/ . I have checked,
v2.6.30 has the commit.

I will leave this bug open in case of anything changed.
