Thanks for your bug report. Ubuntu uses the official gutenprint 5.0.0 drivers (Edgy and Feisty) without modifications. According to the gutenprint web pages the Epson Stylus C50 should be supported with the escp2-c50 driver. It would be nice if somebody with the same printer model could confirm your problem. More that likely this an upstream problem, somebody should forward this bug into the upstream gutenprint bug tracker (preferably you since they will ask for extra information) and add a bug watch here.
