i have similar behavior. i use ubuntu 9.04, 32bit. please advice how can this be investigated.
what i have tried: 1. switching to TTY - not working 2. using the mouse - the mouse moves, but no response for clicks, and NOT leaving trails. 3. using the keyborad - not working 4. animation on the desktop (clock, monitors, etc) - not updated 5.
