David Siegel, I've been annoyed with this bug for three years. I am
going to investigate the fixes proposed in the extensive history of this
item in the gnome-panel bugzilla. If it's easy I'll work the upstream
folks. For now, I'm marking it In Progress while I research the issue
and test the proposed fixes which no one seems to have properly tested
(or at least reported their findings.) If it's truly insurmountable in a
short timeframe then I'll switch it back to Invalid.
