Hi folks - complete rookie here but this problem is still an issue. I'm
using Jackalope, have both a CD burner and DVD burner and neither work
unless booted with blank media. I've looked and looked and see no
resolution this problem. I'd be perfectly willing to do whatever I can
to assist if someone wants to use me as a guinea pig - as I said,
complete rookie with Ubuntu but very capable at following explicit
directions. Here is the issue, as I understand it. Media will not
mount unless session was booted with blank media. Intermittent ability
to burn cd and/or DVDs, depending on whether the particular session is
seeing the drives. I've tried to use native gnome cd burning and just
downloaded and installed k3b, which displays the error "K3b did not find
an optical writing device in your system." I'm using 64-bit AMD system
with unbuntu jaunty 64 bit with latest updates applied yesterday,
6/20/2009. Any help out there for this?

Thanks,

Larry
