Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autoconf

The way to currently remove files generated by autoconf is to call "make
distclean". This just works when automake is used, too. While this might
be the default use case in many cases it is conceptual wrong since
autoconf might be used without automake and thus there is no automated
way to remove generated files. I'd propose a "autoconf --cleanup" which
indeed does the cleanup and is furthermore also used by automake.

** Affects: autoconf (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
